The publication, produced in association with the Charity Commission, caters for the diverse range of properties which charitable organisations operate from, such as commercial offices, museums and hospices. Among the measures suggested by the guide, charities are advised to install low-energy lighting, which could result in significantly reduced bills. Dame Suzi Leather, chair of the Charity Commission, commented: 'Many of the suggestions outlined in the Carbon Trust publication will result in bottom line cost savings for charities - the importance of which cannot be underestimated.' 'With over 190,000 registered charities in England and Wales, just think of the impact the sector could make if every charity committed in some way, however small, to changing the way they work to become more environmentally responsible.'
