WordPress launches SocialVibe charity blog widget

Blogging website WordPress has released a new widget that allows users to collect money for charity.

The application, developed by SocialVibe, allows bloggers to advertise a product or brand on their page, which the sponsoring company pays for by donating to charity.

In a move that could revolutionise charity fundraising online, visitors to the blog page do not part with any money - the firm contributes directly to the chosen charity.

Raanan Bar-Cohen, WordPress vice-president, said: 'In addition to earning donations, you'll also get feedback from your charity about the difference they're making thanks to you.

'With SocialVibe, our community can pool our individual influences to create positive change in the world.'

SocialVibe aims to empower internet users to support charity technology solutions to boost online fundraising.

Individual choices can add up to mass world change, its website states.
