Tesco Personal Finance will donate money each time a customers uses one of their cash machines and they expect to raise £33,000 as a result of the campaign. Duncan McKinnell, Tesco personal finance operations director, explained how the fundraising effort would work: 'Every time customers withdraw cash, check their balance, request a statement or even simply top up their mobile, we will be making a donation to Marie Curie Cancer Care.' He then went on to talk about what the money raised would be used for: 'Through this promotion we're hoping to fund over 1,500 extra hours of nursing care, at home, for people with terminal illnesses throughout the UK.' Marie Curie Cancer Care is having its 60th anniversary this year and has been nominated as Tesco Charity of the Year 2008. As such, Tesco is expecting to raise £2.5 million throughout the year that will provide Marie Curie with an additional 125,000 hours of nursing care for terminally ill patients in the UK.
