Volunteers' salaries to be paid to help charity

14/07/08

Mobile phone provider the Vodafone Group Foundation has announced that it will pay four employees' salaries in order for them to work for a charity for a year.

The Third Sector website reports that Vodafone has launched the initiative as part of its World of Difference competition.

It is expected that the foundation will pay four lucky winners a £25,000 salary as well as £20,000 expenses to work for either an overseas or UK charity.

Applicants have been asked to submit plans by July 31st that outline how they can benefit their chosen charity and must have discussed their proposals with the charity.

Figures from the foundation reveal that seventy per cent of people feel that they could not give up their current job to volunteer.

A further 41 per cent of respondents said that taking a break from their career in order to work for a charity would increase their job satisfaction.
