Virgin credit card to improve third sector fundraising efforts09/03/10 Written by Sally O'Connell. Virgin Money has launched a new initiative that could use technology to boost charity fundraising for a number of organisations. The Virgin Money charity credit card allows consumers to improve fundraising while spending, with one per cent cashback (including gift aid) being paid to a charity of their choice. If an individual is unable to choose a cause, Virgin will donate to a selected charity. The initiative offers a new way of using technology to boost charity fundraising across the sector and offers a typical rate of 12.9 per cent APR (variable). 'We have seen from the recent earthquake disaster in Haiti people are keen to help in cases of dire need and this card ensures they can react quickly,' Scott Mowbray of Virgin Money stated. Mr Mowbray added that the new technology is an 'easy and convenient' way for individuals to regularly raise funds for the charity of their choice, while its gift aid entitlement ensures non-profits get the maximum amount possible from donations. Virgin also recently launched Virgin Money Giving, an online charity fundraising platform similar to JustGiving and CharityGiving. This news item is © CTT Copyright
