US officer uses website to boost not for profit fundraising29/12/09 Written by Matthew Carter. An American military officer serving abroad has used technology to boost charity fundraising and send Christmas gifts to her family. Jane C is currently serving in Afghanistan but used charity giving website Alternative Gifts International (AGI) to purchase festive gifts and give back to important causes. The charity fundraising website allows users to browse charities according to cause or location, as well as adding a personalised card to send along with their gifts. The officer commented: 'I felt great when I got done, knowing that I had played a small role in advancing several very important causes around the globe. 'I am a firm believer that projects like the ones I was able to support through AGI will make the world a better place.' She added that the website is also ideal for individuals looking for alternative gifts at Christmas. Recipients of alternative gifts via the charity fundraising website are given an insert, a document that outlines the project or projects supported by the gift donation.
