Social network to boost third sector fundraising23/12/09 Written by Isabel Griffith. A social network could take the third sector by storm as it aims to boost charity fundraising online. Ammado is a stakeholder engagement site that focuses its efforts on improving donations to 6,000 charities and important causes, the Star Online reports. Users are able to read up about certain campaigns and pledge funds without registering as a user on the site, a fact that could further heighten its charity fundraising potential. 'We don't want to be just another social networking site but a tool that individuals can use to engage with causes that are important to them,' Ammado south-east Asia and Pacific managing director Joeri Gianotten told In.Tech. Features that could entice users include the website's giving circle, which shows users how an individual or company has interacted with charitable organisations without giving specific details of donations. Ammado also offers users the chance to buy gift vouchers for friends and relatives that the recipient can donate to a cause of their choice. It was launched in June 2008 and is currently available in 12 languages, including English, French, German, Italian and Japanese. This news item is © CTT Copyright
