Signed copies of Rolling Stone to boost online charity fundraising effort

Several issues of famous rock magazine Rolling Stone will be auctioned off via the internet for charity, it has been reported.

In news that could interest organisations hoping to boost their charity fundraising operations, past copies of the publication signed by famous musicians such as Eminem, Jay-Z, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Paul Simon and Bon Jovi will be sold to generate money for MusiCares and the Grammy Foundation.

Bids can be placed via online auction website eBay until July 2nd, when the winning bidders will be announced.

MusiCares offers emotional, medical and financial support to musicians, while the Grammy Foundation operates a range of educational programmes at schools and colleges.

The move indicates an increasing trend towards non-profits using technology such as the internet to boost their charity fundraising operations.

Yesterday (June 24th), charity search engine Freelanthropy announced the launch of a new feature aimed at increasing support for voluntary organisations.

The website has introduced a MyAccount section, that allows users to see exactly how much they have raised for their favourite charities by searching the internet
