Organisation appeals for shoes to boost online charity fundraising20/01/10 Written by Sally O'Connell. A third sector organisation has launched a new website in order to boost its charity fundraising for individuals affected by the Haiti earthquake. Soles4Souls is a charity that aims to provide shoes for poor countries and has launched a new site aimed to boosting relief efforts in the country, which was hit by a seven-magnitude tremor last week (January 12th). Entitled Project Haiti, the website encourages visitors to set up their own mini-campaign page to gather shoes and raise funds for the vicitims. Wayne Elsey, Soles4Souls founder and chief executive, said: 'We have fielded thousands of phone calls and emails from people around the country wanting to roll up their sleeves and help mobilise their communities.' 'Project Haiti is designed to do that,' he added. The organisation hopes to boost its charity fundraising and gather at least one million pairs of shoes for those in need.

According to Soles4Souls, more than 300 million children across the globe do not own a pair of shoes.
