Orange's People Projects could boost charity fundraising online18/11/09 Written by Matthew Carter. Charity fundraising could be boosted by a new web application launched by network operator Orange. The company's People Projects service is an application that can be installed on a profile page on social networking website Facebook, allowing users to collaborate on projects that mean the most to them. Users can join a project or create their own, many of which many be charity fundraising initiatives and campaigns to improve awareness of a cause. The People Projects website states: 'It's much easier to get something done - and often more fun - when you've got a helping hand. 'By using Facebook you can invite your friends to take part, and if you need lots of extra help then you can open your project to all of Facebook.' The range of projects currently active on the service include environmental, artistic, sports and international causes. Orange will launch the application on other social networks soon and also expects to release a mobile version of People Projects. In other news, a website set up by US organisation the Orix Foundation is using technology to co-ordinate charity fundraising drives by its employees in order to match their donations.
