New website launched to help community groups and projects

A social enterprise has launched a new website to promote awareness of community projects, groups and services right across England and Wales.

Community Projects, allows local projects supported by their communities a free space in which to advertise.

The site, which was created by Community Projects, an organisation specialising in community interest groups, will seek funding from local authorities, businesses and government agencies.

Projects ranging from youth groups and sports teams, to environmental schemes and children's day care centres, as well as local amenities such as theatres, swimming pools and skateboard parks will be allowed to advertise on the site.

According to Third Sector, each community group will also be offered a free web page profile that covers their aims, objectives and ways in which people in the community can get involved.

Meanwhile, Torridge District Council has launched a new community grants scheme offering up to £2,000 per application, with the aim of developing local services and improving the quality of life in the North Devon region.
