New services do not generate money for charity

07/08/08

Everyclick.com, the search engine that donates a percentage of its revenue to charity has launched a series of new services which mean that it will no longer have to give away half of its revenue.

Professionalfundrasing.co.uk reported that the change will allow the company to remain competitive and be seen as an attractive proposition to investors.

Polly Gowers, everyclick's founder, told Charity News Alert: When we launched everyclick we thought that all we'd ever be would be a search engine that raised money for charity.

'This has worked well but we now want to launch new services - services where we charge people a fee. This is a very competitive environment and we couldn't be competitive under the previous objects [of the company].'

Whilst any revenue generated from new services would go to the company, Ms Gowers confirmed that 50 per cent of all search and advertising revenue would still go to charity.
