Netcel starts website to boost donations for charity fundraising cycling event28/09/09 Written by Mathew Carter A web agency has launched a website aimed at boosting charity fundraising for a 1,000-mile cycle ride. Netcel founded Moneyspinners.org to raise the profile of 20 financial services workers who are cycling from Land's End to John O'Groats for charity. The cyclists hope to raise £100,000 for Naomi House Children's Hospice and Help The Hospices. Netcel managing director Tim Parfitt commented on the charity fundraising initiative: '[Moneyspinners] is a great example of how a website can utilise social media for a one-off charity event or campaign. 'We are delighted to support this charity event by producing such an innovative and interactive website.' Participants will be uploading images and videos captured with their mobile phones to the website, allowing donors and potential donors to track their progress online. Furthermore, a widget from JustGiving displays recent donations made to the cause and the total amount raised so far. Users of the website can also track the teams riding via Google Latitude, allowing them to 'track [them] every pedal of the way'. This news item is © CTT Copyright
