Marie Curie Cancer Care wins search engine fundraising competition12/06/09 Marie Curie Cancer Care has boosted its charity fundraising by winning the Everyclick Charity Challenge, securing an advertising campaign that includes 1,500 Clear Channel sites in the UK. Everyclick is an innovative approach to web searching that allows a user to specify a charity that then receives a percentage of the engine's generated revenue. Everyclick founder Polly Gowers stated: 'Marie Curie was the clear winner and had explored every possible avenue to get its supporters fundraising using the Everyclick tools. 'From donations to search and sponsorship, it had maximised opportunities to fundraise online.' A spokesperson for the charity commented that the advertising scheme, which will be offered in partnership with Clear Channel Outdoor, will allow it to boost awareness of its campaigns and offer more free nursing care for patients in the UK. Meanwhile, a new social networking website could be set to transform voluntary sector fundraising. Worldeka, Sanskrit for 'one world', is aimed at changing the way users interact with social networks, encouraging charity organisations to sign up with a view to boosting their international profile and raising funds.
