iPhone app to boost Aids charity fundraising25/11/09 Written by Sally O'Connell. A new software application will boost charity fundraising to fight Aids in Africa, it has been revealed. Shazam RED is a new version of the popular music recognition software for Apple's iPhone that costs $4.99 (£2.99), but 20 per cent of the purchase price will now be given to charity, the company has confirmed. Users who purchase the app can use it to identify music and immediately connect to iTunes in order to buy it, while they can also receive recommendations based on previous tags. RED is a platform for the sale of products and services that directly benefit the fight against Aids in Africa. Retailers that use RED give up to 50 per cent of their profit to the charity fundraising initiative. The RED website states: 'Every dollar goes straight to Africa, straight to the people who need it. Straight to keeping them alive so that they can go on taking care of their families and contribute socially and economically to their communities. This news item is © CTT Copyright
