Internet has made not-for-profit fundraising 'more personal'29/01/10 Written by Matthew Carter Charity fundraisers are increasingly relying on technology to help them generate sponsorship money, it has been stated. According to BBC News, online fundraising has seen a boom in the last few years, allowing people to reach large groups of people rapidly. Some charitable organisations have noted a 40 per cent rise in donations since signing up to online charity fundraising platforms like JustGiving, while gift aid also boosts giving. Chris Field, head of fundraising and marketing at Aspire, told the news source: 'With paper [sponsorship], you go up and talk to them. But with JustGiving, you can put up pictures, videos, write a story as to why you're doing it. 'I think in many ways it's more personal.' He added that social networking websites such as Facebook and Bebo have dramatically increased the scope of online charity fundraising. Some ten million people have raised funds for more than 8,000 charities since JustGiving launched in 1999. This news item is © CTT Copyright
