Homeless organisation names IT partner in charity fundraising drive

Technology  company iomart Hosting has become the official IT partner of UK homelessness charity StreetSmart, it has been revealed.

Iomart designed the organisation's website using the cloud platform, a fact that could give a boost to its charity fundraising efforts.

StreetSmart asks diners in expensive restaurants to add £1 to their bill to support charities' efforts to tackle homelessness in the UK.

Glenn Pougnet, director of StreetSmart, said: 'We're delighted that iomart Hosting have joined us as the charity's technology partners as their involvement removes the worry for us of having to manage our website and ensures that it's always available to potential donors and restaurant patrons.'

Mr Pougnet added that allowing an external company to operate its website means the organisation is able to focus on vital charity fundraising and campaigning.

StreetSmart raised a total of £435,000 in 2008 when around 600 restaurants across the UK took part in its charity fundraising initiative.

Some 90 homeless charities benefit from the StreetSmart scheme.
