Funding website boosts third sector fundraising by £1.5m12/03/10 Written by Sally O'Connell. A free service that harnesses the power of the internet to improve charity fundraising has generated £1.5 million for the third sector in its first six months of operation. Funding Central is backed by the Office of the Third Sector and gives non-profits access to more than 4,000 funding routes, including loans, contracts and grants. It also offers practical advice and support to organisations looking to improve their not-for-profit fundraising strategies. More than 100 charities have already received between £800 and £85,000 and a total of £1.5 million since the website launched in 2009. Responding to the news, Graham Collins of the National Council for Voluntary Organisations said: 'Funding Central is a vital resource for all third sector organisations because it brings together the broadest range of funding and finance opportunities in one place, enabling organisations to explore all income options and make informed choices.' The website lists funding deadlines for third sector groups and also offers a weekly mailing list update. This news item is © CTT Copyright
