Cowell praises seven-year-old's online charity fundraising success27/01/10 Written by Matthew Carter. Celebrity and Pop Idol judge Simon Cowell has praised a seven-year-old boy for his online charity fundraising effort for Unicef. Charlie Simpson set up a JustGiving page with the help of his parents with a target of £500, but ended up raising over £160,000 after national media coverage boosted his profile. Meeting the young charity fundraiser in a video on the Mirror website, Cowell said: 'I think what Charlie's done is amazing and we can all learn from him. He's the most astonishing fundraiser in the country. 'There aren't many adults who have ever raised so much money.' The seven-year-old raised the money by doing a sponsored bike ride around South Park in Fulham on Sunday (January 24th). Commenting on large sum of money, Charlie's parents thanked all donors and emphasised their surprise at the success of the online charity fundraising drive. Over ten million people use JustGiving as an online platform for charity fundraising across the world. This news item is © CTT Copyright
