Collaborative fundraising gives 'real return on investment'

16/07/08

Charities that run fundraising campaigns in collaboration with another organisation are likely to produce a successful and profitable campaign.

That is the conclusion reached at the Institute of Fundraising National Convention last week.

The group also said that funders were much more likely to be attracted to joint bids as they were more likely to work.

Grants manager at the HBOS Foundation, Janet Roberts, said funders preferred joint bids because they create a 'real return on investment'.

Deputy development director at YouthNet, Sarah Hooker, said that her charity had been very successful in the past with collaborative fundraising efforts that had raised £7.5 million last year alone.

Ms Hooker gave advice to participants pushing them to have 'open conversations about responsibilities' and that honest and 'open' communication was essential to establish the amount of funding each partner will receive.

In related news, delegates at the fundraising convention were also asked to embrace social networking sites to gain exposure and help build their brand online.
