Delegates at the Institute of Fundraising National Convention were in for a yuletide treat in the middle of summer last week, Thirdsector.co.uk reported. The convention was designed to give attendees creative ideas for Christmas fundraising and was visited by two Santas in full costume. The website reports that Christmas light displays could be a cash generator this Christmas with residents being persuaded to hold charity collections in their streets. Delegates were also informed of one unusual fundraising idea, which included volunteers auctioning themselves as Santa's elves in the run-up to Christmas. Businesses were also encouraged to enter into fundraising activities throughout the advent period. It is thought that this year's predominant Christmas colours will be the traditional red and green, so fundraisers and trade fairs are being urged to use these tones in their merchandising.
