Charity websites 'makes it easier to donate'
30/04/08
Charity websites are proving increasingly popular in the attempt to channel donations more effectively, it has been reported.
According to The Guardian, the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) revealed that online fundraiser justgiving.com is helping charities to reach potential donors through marketing, bringing over £250 million to the sector over the past seven years.
The newspaper noted that the private company had made charitable giving more pertinent to young people, at a time when many smaller charities are struggling to generate charity payments.
Zarine Kharas, chief executive of the company, told The Guardian: "We spend millions of pounds each year on IT development and invest in new products and marketing.
"We are already attracting donations from overseas. We want to expand to attract donations from the British expat communities, which can be very generous."
Justgiving.com was set up in 2001 and is used by over 3,000 registered charities, which direct potential donors to the site.
