Charity fundraising discount store05/02/09 A not-for-profit organisation has come up with an unusual charity fundraising idea that builds on its shops. Sue Ryder Care has decided to open its first discount store in Nottinghamshire, which will send goods priced from £1 to £3. Visitors to the 'buy now' store will be able to get their hands on goods while doing their bit for charity fundraising. Commenting on the purpose behind the new store, Theresa Bailey, retail marketing manager at Sue Ryder Care, said: 'The flagship store responds to people looking for quality and value for money. If successful, we will take it across the UK. It builds on a range of specialist shops we have developed over the last year, including -music and books- and -retro and vintage-.' Ms Bailey explained that the charity was successful in raising over £2 million from the retail arm of the charity. Volunteers from Sue Ryder care shops in Shepton Mallet, Bingham and Stockton had their work recognised by the charity when they were honoured in the national volunteer team of the year awards.
