Charity awards recognise best fundraising team

20/11/08

Third Sector's Excellence Awards honoured the Fire Fighters Charity as the organisation won the category of best charity fundraising team.

Paul Ross was the celebrity host who presented the charity to the winning team on Tuesday (November 18th).

The Fire Fighters Charity had to face stiff competition to get the prize and was successful in holding off the British Red Cross, Mary's Meal's and the South Yorkshire Community Foundation to scoop the prize.

There were honours for the Institute of Cancer Research which was highly commended by the judges for TacheWars, a concept that sees supporters growing moustaches to raise sponsorship.

Jewish Care's 'post-it note' appeal which raised over £200,000 was given an award for best direct marketing campaign to recognise their skill in charity communications.

The Fire Fighters Charity provides support for over 13,500 individuals from the fire community every year, by providing pioneering treatment and support services.

The Fire Kills Campaign teamed up with the Fire Fighters Charity to launch the first National Schools' Fire Safety Day on November 19th.
