That is the conclusion reached by npfSynergy, whose research revealed that although a charity's income growth would slow or become static in an economic downturn it would not fall, thirdsector.co.uk reported. Jonathan Baker, researcher for nfpSynergy, said: 'Charities shouldn't just accept defeat.' He continued offering advice for those in the voluntary sector that they 'should be robust enough to weather well and charities still have time to create a resilient action plan to protect themselves against income volatility before the onset of any possible recession'. Mr Baker and his team predicted that it would take ten months before the effects of any economic downturn were would be felt by the voluntary sector. The team predicted that there would be a further seven-month delay before voluntary sector workers found their grants, investments and fees were affected.
