Charitable donations for free wills01/09/08 A charity has come up with an unusual way to raise money after it announced that it plans to offer members of the public a free will-making service in return for donations, charity website Third Sector reports. The scheme is going to be undertaken by WillAid and the charity has suggested that the public donate £75 for a single will. WillAid works in partnership with a number of organisations and donations will automatically go to ActionAid, the British Red Cross, Christian Aid, Help the Aged, the NSPCC, Save the Children UK, the Scottish Catholic International Aid Fund, Sightsavers International and Trocaire. Whilst these are the name charities, individuals will be advised that they can make legacies to another charity. Shirley Marsland, campaign manager at Will Aid, said: 'The Will Aid partnership charities are pleased to be able to spread the benefits of the campaign as widely as possible by offering this opportunity to other charities.' New research has shown that two-thirds of charities based in the south-west of the country believe that the National Lottery is financing the Olympics at the expense of third sector organisations, whilst 38 per cent thought the lottery had been a good source of funding.
