Cancer Research UK launches online charity fundraising trial08/12/09 Written by Isabel Griffith. A leading third sector organisation has launched a trial charity fundraising system that harnesses the power of the internet. Cancer Research UK is overseeing a website entitled My Projects, which allows donors to specify which of the charity's projects their money will be spent on. Supporters can access information on the organisation's various projects, as well as viewing the total amount raised for each so far. The charity fundraising initiative is part of a wider system that will be launched in March 2010, Third Sector reports. Kevin Waudby, head of innovation at Cancer Research UK, told the news source: 'Online fundraising means charities have to have closer relationships with all of their supporters and let them all have a say in what happens to their donations.' Mr Waudby added that the website is aimed primarily at new donors. Cancer Research UK is the world's leading charity aiming to eliminate cancer and supports research projects in 35 towns across the UK. This news item is © CTT Copyright
