Breast Cancer Care gets support from McQueen

22/07/08

Breast Cancer Care has received a boost after designer to the stars Alexander McQueen announced that he would be redesigning his signature scarf to help raise money for the charity.

The coveted leopard-print style scarf, which Vogue said has been 'worn by everyone' including Kate Moss, will be available exclusively at Selfridges from the end of August as part of the department store's Pinkridges event.

In other fundraising news, thirdsector.co.uk has reported that the children's charity Chicks is running its national Make a Memory, Fly a Kite campaign.

Chicks will be working with outdoor specialist, Mountain Warehouse, and hopes to raise £100,000 for the charity by selling the kites in their store for £5.99.

Oxfam and the Gurkha Welfare Trust have even higher hopes for their campaign which involves getting participants to join in with their third Trailwalker event.

The charities are expecting more than 2,000 people to take part in the event and hope to raise over £1 million from the trek.
