Bookshop website boosts charity fundraising potential24/11/09 A new website is harnessing the popularity of online shopping to improve charity fundraising. Bath-based firm Eclector has launched the service of the same name in order to allow charities to run an online bookshop and take half of the profits generated by it, UK Fundraising reports. Organisations are able to manage all transactions by logging into the site and can also communicate directly with buyers. Eclector chief executive William Pryor commented on the charity fundraising initiative: 'Not only do supporters get the book they want, but the purchase contributes five times more than certain other online book retailers. 'Charities get paid half the gross profit on each and every sale - however and whenever they happen.' Non-profits that have already joined the website include Action on Addiction, Shelterbox and the Ramblers. The website operators can also help charity heads build their book shop and tailor their books to the interests of their audience. In other news, a German website called Better Place had revolutionised charity fundraising online by allowing donors to give directly to charity projects rather than through non-profit organisations.
