Charity auction to be broadcast online

21/05/08

The internet is to be used as a vital tool in expanding the reach of a charity auction, due to be held in New York on May 31st.

'Icons of Music' is returning for its second year and is aimed to raise funds for Music Rising, a national campaign devised by a number of leading figures in the music industry, including U2's guitarist The Edge.

Internet-savvy music fans will be able to go online to participate in the auction, which will be broadcast live in high-definition.

Pamela A McKissick, chief executive and founder of Auction Network, which will host the event online, commented: 'The 'Icons of Music' charity event is a perfect example of our strategy to allow more people access to world-class auction events they otherwise couldn't attend, which helps the auction house generate more revenue.'

'Darren Julien, president and chief executive of Julien's Auctions, added: "It's exciting to offer a live interactive webcast so more fans can be involved to raise even more money for this worthwhile charity.'
