Arts charity pays tribute to Pink Floyd star

A charity that supports the Arts and the mentally ill is planning a series of fundraising events that will pay tribute to the late founder member of Pink Floyd, Syd Barrett.

Escape Artists will be hosting a number of music workshops, an art exhibition that will feature some of Barrett's works and a stage show, which will all take place in Cambridge, Barrett's home city.

The charity hopes to repeat the event in other cities should the initial City Wakes project be a success.

Making use of celebrity endorsements, Leukemia Research has announced that Emmerdale actor, Tony Audenshaw, will be running in the charity's marathon in Manchester that will take place on September 13th.

Leukemia research hopes to raise £10,000 from the event as they are asking each participant to raise £200.

One charity that is making the most of technology to boost their profile is HFT, an organisation that helps adults with learning disabilities.

HFT will be launching a website where supporters will be able to create tribute pages in memory of loved ones.
