Youth charity launches improved website

14/08/08

A youth charity has re-launched its website in an effort to help stressed-out students who are anxious about going to college.

Youth-orientated charity, SpunOut.ie, has consulted closely with its teen audience for the re-launch, with features including access to emailed support from the Samaritans.

The new website also includes an element of social networking technology, with teens being able to upload photos, articles and videos, as well as access discussion forums giving them the chance to organise their own fundraising events.

Susan Quirke, a spokesperson for SpunOut.ie, said: 'We are calling on young people to take control of their information, their media, their mental health, their physical health, their education and their lives to help generate a sense of well-being in this often chaotic world.'

The charity is run by a staff of just eight, but gets helps and support from 300 volunteers.

In other news, a recent survey by the Scottish Government has found that Scottish people are more likely to volunteer than anyone else in Europe.
