Website shows how charities spend donations01/10/08 Those who donate to charity will be able to view how their donations are spent via a new website. Charities' objectives, activities, trustees and accounts will be given via the new online register, the Guardian reports. The website, run by the Charity Commission will contain financial profiles and graphics outlining how they spend their money, but this information will only be available for charities with incomes over £500,000. Launched today (October 1st), the creators hope the site will improve transparency and accountability amongst charitable organisations. Commenting on the new site, Suzi Leather, the commission's chairwoman, said: 'Most charities have an excellent story to tell and we hope this will lead to a more open, transparent sector that welcomes the scrutiny of those that fund it.' A recent poll by Ipsos Moro found that 96 per cent of people think it is important to explain charities expenditure clearly.
