VSO improves not-for-profit communications through video technology09/03/10 Written by Sally O'Connell. International development organisation Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO) is using video conferencing technology to improve its charity communications, it has been revealed. The group is using mvision's managed conferencing service to improve collaboration and training among its volunteers in over 40 countries worldwide. It reports the new system has streamlined its charity communications by making connectivity easier and quicker for all involved. VSO is also using the service as a platform for training and human resources. Uzma Kazmi, VSO systems manager, commented: 'The motivational gains we are experiencing with video conferencing have completely changed the way that we engage with each other that simply is not possible by phone.' Kazmi added that it can help training personnel read pupils' facial expressions to ensure they understand what they are being taught. VSO was founded in 1958 and has since employed some 40,000 volunteers in 120 countries. It now manages a group of 1,600 in 42 countries. This news item is © CTT Copyright
