Whilst the charity claim the number of new volunteers they have successfully recruited has increased since 2003, the total number that works for the charity has fallen since 1993. This is causing an issue as the charity calls have gone up steadily over that period of time, thirdsector.co.uk has reported. A recruitment campaign will begin on Monday (August 4th) and will be run over different mediums including press, radio and poster ads. In an attempt to boost volunteer numbers, a poster used in the campaign will pick an anonymous man from a crowd and will have the accompanying text: 'Everyone has it in them to be a Sam. You've got it in you too.' The charity has stated that they received a phone call every seven seconds last year and in 2007 volunteers took 315,368 calls compared with 291,571 in 2006.
