Traces of Hope is one of the first ever charity 'alternate reality' games and is designed to provide a realistic simulation of humanitarian relief work. Spil Games recently announced the release of The Red Cross Game: Emergency Response Unit, which allows players to race against the clock to help save people in need and allows them to manage relief effort. Commenting on the game, Peter Driessen, chief executive of Spil Games, said: 'It not only gives people a chance to learn about heroic work done by Red Cross workers, but also directly supports this valiant organization.' Mr Driessen said the game allowed people to get a glimpse of the wide range of 'challenging missions' that the Red Cross carry out every day. The Red Cross describes itself as a volunteer-led humanitarian organisation that helps people in crisis.
