New social network to revolutionise charity communications11/06/09 A new social networking site that has been launched in the UK will harness the power of technology in order to boost charity communications and fundraising. Worldeka, Sanskrit for 'one world', is the brainchild of siblings Charlie and Sophie Cox and is aimed at transforming the way users interact with social networks. Charlie Cox commented: 'We designed Worldeka to embolden the socially engaged, engender online revolution and spark offline change. We've had almost 30,000 unique visitors from over 80 countries. 'People realise that being part of a wider movement amplifies their message and is far more effective than trying to make an impact on their own.' Mr Cox added that many voluntary organisations are already using Worldeka to produce public profiles aimed at enhancing charity communications, encouraging donations and recruiting volunteers. Individuals can also join the website, making their own profile that links to their favourite charities and good causes. A similar platform was released earlier this year in the form of good.ly, a website that allows users to recommend items for others to purchase, with a commission being donated to the user's charity of choice.
