First aid app to boost charity communications13/04/10 Written by Isabel Griffith. St John Ambulance has announced a new technological tool that could boost charity communications. The charity has released a new application for the Apple iPhone that allows users to access vital information about first aid in simple terms. According to the organisation, the app has already been downloaded 10,000 times across the world and some 2,200 times in the UK alone. It provides advice about common emergency situations involving severe bleeding, heart attacks and choking and has been launched in conjunction with a new campaign to improve basic first aid knowledge. Sue Killen, St John Ambulance chief executive, said: 'While we would encourage people to take the responsibility to learn first aid themselves, our app makes our knowledge and experience in first aid easily accessible to iPhone users.' The app is priced at £2.39 and can be downloaded from the Apple app store now. Some 150,000 people die every year in situations where first aid could have helped them survive, according to the charity. This news item is © CTT Copyright
