A dog welfare organisation is using social networking to improve its charity communications, it has been reported.

The Dogs Trust, which operates a re-homing centre in Evesham, has created a playlist of dog-related songs on music streaming network Spotify in order to engage potential supporters via the internet, the Berrows Journal reports.

Included in the list are Hounds of Love by the Futureheads and I Love My Dog by Cat Stevens.

Users can access the canine-related songs by downloading the media program from Spotify.com.

Alex Goldstein, Dogs Trust web editor, told the publication: 'We've found social networking is a brilliant way to connect with our supporters and communicate our key messages through friendly dialogue.'

Mrs Goldstein also revealed that the organisation has been bolstering its communications via other means, including Facebook, Twitter and Flickr, adding that 'the results are tangible'.

Many groups are turning to the internet to support their charity campaigning and generate more backing for good causes.

There are around three million music tracks available on Spotify in the UK, its website states.
