Disability charity launches website29/07/08 In an example of a charity using technology to help spread its message, Leonard Cheshire Disability has announced that it will be launching a website next year. The aim of the disability information portal is to encourage debate on issues relating to disability and to help shape opinion and ultimately to create policy. Commenting on the new website, Stephen Elsden, project manager at Leonard Chesire Disability, said: 'We want the portal to be the leading online resource for anyone who would like to learn more about disability.' He continued: 'We want people to sign up, log on and explore to find out more.' A pilot version of the site will be available for people to view at www.dip-online.org. Disability charity Scope recently announced on Precision Marketing that it was keen to use both traditional and electronic forms of marketing to engage with its customer's base. Alexandra O'dwyer, head of communications at the charity, said: 'At Scope we are keen to develop our online and interactive communication channels, but it also seems clear that organisations that neglect more traditional ways of engaging the public could be missing out on potential opportunities.'
