ChildLine uses new website to improve charity communications with children19/10/2009 Written By Isabel Griffith. Children's counselling charity ChildLine has launched a new website in order to improve its services to young people. Opening today (October 19th), the website hopes to provide children with advice, information and support via 'hot topic' pages, message board discussions, games, videos and email correspondence, on top of its regular freephone services. The charity communications expansion has been supported by government funding. Mark Bajer, ChildLine senior supervisor, said: 'Some children aren't lucky enough to have family support, or find it difficult to talk about their feelings, so can end up suffering in silence.' 'ChildLine provides trusted and confidential support for those children who feel isolated,' he added. According to a recent online poll of 1,000 young people by the charity, one in three 11 to 16-year-olds feels sad, depressed, angry, isolated or stressed. The new website also boasts a 'mood tracker', which helps children sum up their feelings over a period of time. It is operated by the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children, which earlier this year launched a new internet safety campaign to protect young people. SafetyNet was launched on June 15th and urges the government to devise a plan to stop the sharing of indecent images of children online. This news item is © CTT Copyright
