Skin Care organisation uses website to improve charity campaigning09/11/09 Written by Isabel Griffith. A non-profit organisation is offering people in Wales advice about skin conditions via its website, it has been reported. Skin Care Cymru is upping its charity campaigning in order to raise awareness of dermatological health problems and how patients can get treatment and support, WalesOnline reports. The organisation claims that a lack of bed-space and long waiting lists mean that specialist services in Wales are under increasing pressure. Nicky Davies, Skin Care Cymru administration officer, told the news source: 'Our aim is to provide a service to relevant healthcare bodies and patient support groups via our website for anyone seeking further advice on their specific condition.' Mr Davies added that the charity hopes to use the website as a forum, allowing patients to interact and share issues. The charity website features in-depth descriptions of all common skin conditions, detailing causes, symptoms, treatments and cures. According to Skin Care Cymru, more than 700,000 new cases of skin cancer such as malignant melanoma are registered every year. This news item is © CTT Copyright
