Arsenal Football Club's manager, Arsene Wenger, and Little Britain star Matt Lucas both presented the cheque which totalled £519,541 to the autism education charity at the Emirates Cup tournament. The club has more than doubled its target of £250,000 that it had set through a 12-month partnership and it is the most it has ever raised through its 'charity of the season' initiative. One of the fundraising events involved supporters, players and directors donating a day's wages to the charity. Another event saw Treehouse receiving 50p from every programme that was sold at a charity match between Chealsea and Arsenal. On their website, Treehouse said: 'The amount raised is testament to the many innovative fundraising activities co-ordinated throughout the 12 month partnership.' Another unusual fundraising event involved William Gallas and Cesc Fabregas visiting Treehouse School along with author Nick Hornby, a founding parent of the charity, to take part in a painting competition that required them to use their feet to draw.
