Organisation uses internet to launch anti-knife crime charity campaigning16/03/10 Written by Sally O'Connell. A non-profit organisation is using the internet to boost its charity campaigning in partnership with the government, it has been revealed. Count Me In: Together We Can Stop Knife Crime is being run by Families United this week and is set to harness the power of social networking. According to the organisation, it will encourage young people to support a future without knife crime by becoming a fan of the campaign on Facebook, while other websites such as Teachersnet will distribute advice about teaching on the subject. It will be backed up by visits to primary schools in high-risk areas that will reach 300,000 young pupils. Launching the charity campaigning initiative, prime minister Gordon Brown said: 'I believe young people want to see an end to knife crime, just as we all do. 'So this week we're asking them to sign the pledge and say 'count me in' to a world without knife crime.' Families United is also running a campaign to stop online bullying with electronic anti-social behaviour orders. This news item is © CTT Copyright
