Mental illness website to improve online not for profit campaigning08/02/10 Written by Isabel Griffith. Charity campaigning for mental health could be improved by a new website that launches today (February 8th). Mentalhealthcare.org.uk aims to lay bare the myths and misconceptions surrounding forms of psychosis such as bipolar disorder and schizophrenia and is a joint project between Rethink, the Institute of Psychiatry at King's College London and South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust. The website discusses medication, treatments and therapies for people with mental health problems, as well as outlining the causes of such conditions. Elizabeth Kuipers, professor of clinical psychology at the Institute of Psychiatry, commented: 'There is still an enormous amount of stigma and shame about psychosis.' 'There are a lot of myths about what it means if you have one of these problems, so it's helpful to have information that you can trust - information that helps you know what you are dealing with.' The charity campaigning website features video interviews with health professionals and experts, as well as a page that allows visitors to pose questions to a psychologist, a psychiatrist or a pharmacist. Mentalhealthcare.org.uk is part funded by the Wellcome Trust. This news item is © CTT Copyright
