Campaign to cut costs of text donations03/07/08 Hefty fees and VAT charges and taxes stop many charities using text donation services but a new campaign may help shift the tide, Third Sector reported. The Institute of Fundraising, headed by Joe Saxton, is hoping to bring together all the groups campaigning to reduce prohibitive fees attached to text donations. Saxton said: "The fundraising potential could well be substantial, not least among the young. By striking the right balance, mobile phone operators, charities and donors could all benefit." Text donations are currently worth £6 million per year to the third sector but charities only receive 55p from each pound donated. Charity Technology Trust has been fighting to get the networks to reduce their share for the last two yeas and is delighted to hear the comments from The Institute of Fundraising.
