The internet 'is a very important area for charities'

22/05/08

Charities looking to expand their reach can harness the power of the internet to launch highly effective campaigns.

That is according to Henry Palmer, director of Society Media, who asserted that the internet represents 'a hugely important platform for charities' as it allows them to generate greater awareness about their activities.

He also noted that the web offers non-profit organisations a cost-effective way of promoting themselves, as it allows them to 'raise their profile on a low budget '

Mr Palmer commented: 'The internet is a very important area, particularly for the cost and the different budgets with which you can achieve [results].'

'There are examples throughout not just the charity sector but across all sectors, where really successful profile-raising campaigns have been launched, that have had a huge impact.'

Third Sector recently reported that Crimestoppers is publicising its Most Wanted appeals on social networking site Facebook.
