About The Charity

The Pattaya Orphanage Trust helps vulnerable and disadvantaged children in Thailand - abandoned, disabled, HIV positive, tsunami survivors and street children. They provide a home, education and future for almost 1000 children, and reach out to thousands more through health and nutrition projects.

About The Email Newsletter

In December, Pattaya Orphanage was given a month’s notice by their email marketing provider that their email marketing tool was being withdrawn from the market. CTT was asked to step in to produce a replacement email newsletter.

What CTT Did

Within two hours, CTT:

• Opened an account for Pattaya on the dotMailer email broadcast tool.
• Built a new, updated, version of the Pattaya email newsletter template.
• Loaded the Pattaya address book.
• Created a new email newsletter sign-up form.

Pattaya staff were then trained to manage their own email newsletters.

The Impact Of The Campaign

When the Asian Tsunami hit in December 2004, Thailand was one of the countries affected. Pattaya wanted to reassure their supporters that the orphanage had not been affected by the tsunami and that all the children and staff of the Father Ray Foundation were safe and well.

An email to all their supporters was sent within two hours of CTT receiving the text. The email included an appeal on behalf of Thai tsunami victims, an appeal which also appeared on the website, raising (so far) about £30,000 for no significant cost.

Pattaya’s staff were able to log onto the dotMailer system to see an online report of their enews. The comprehensive report offers real time information about:

• The number of emails sent, received, opened and replied to.
• The links that have been clicked and forwarding activity
• Each individual's activity within a particular campaign – allowing the charity to tailor future messages according to previous responses.

The Pattaya Orphanage Trust staff were extremely pleased with the tool and the speed with which it was deployed.  They are now using the dotMailer system for their regular email newsletters.
