Press Release

Charity Technology Trust takes on text messaging - July 2005

Charity Technology Trust (CTT) has agreed to take over the operation of smstextgiving Ltd. a unique social venture set up two years ago, with a mission to promote a culture of donating to charity via mobile. Over 40 charitable organisations have signed up to use smstextgiving’s service and the concept of donating via mobile is receiving regular press in the sector.

The founders of smstextgiving, Steve Whitfield and Graham Burroughs, are keen to see the continued development of this venture and have decided that this would be better achieved by transferring the operation of smstextgiving to a charitable organisation that is able to offer a broader range of new media technology services and support to charities.

CTT already works with over 120 UK charities, including many household names such as Age Concern, Amnesty International and The Woodland Trust.

CTT’s Chief Executive, William Hoyle, is committed to developing the smstextgiving mission and CTT will be working with smstextgiving’s current owners to ensure a smooth transition.  CTT will also be developing new initiatives to provide charities with innovative ideas for the use of mobile as part of a charity’s fundraising and communication strategies.  For more information about CTT, go to www.ctt.org
