CTT begins race to get all charities online by 2012

Charity Technology Trust (CTT) announced yesterday a partnership with Race Online 2012 to help all UK charities have a presence online by 2012.

Race Online 2012 is a landmark challenge led by the Martha Lane Fox, which aims to make the UK one of the first countries in the world to establish a fully online, internet enabled society.

BT and Charity Technology Trust offer charities a new platform for collecting telephone donations

Charity Technology Trust (CTT) has announced a partnership with BT to enable charities to significantly cut the cost of collecting telephone donations while reducing the risk of theft and fraud with the launch of BT’s SafePay payments system.

BT SafePay is a dedicated automated telephone interactive voice response (IVR) system for securely collecting credit or debit card donations using CTT’s card payment processing system. It enables charities and other organisations to avoid the expense of using call centres and guarantees every call is answered.

CTT launches a FREE service - www.charitywebsites.net

Terapad.com and Charity Technology Trust (CTT) a UK registered charity have launched www.charitywebsites.net to offer low cost websites to charities and non profit organisations. The entry level version of the service is free of charge and even the standard version costs as little as £8 a month.

Terapad.com is the next generation of online publishing solutions, developed by SiteJourney Ltd. Terapad’s system enables anyone to set up their own website in a matter of minutes. Terapad has taken the world of website creation by storm and, despite only being around for a year, already hosts over 100,000 websites.

Online help for social care organisations

The Social Care Institute for Excellence is delighted to announce that it will distribute £12 million of investment grants, supporting care providers who don’t currently have good access to the internet. The two-year programme will enable adult care and support providers to access information and communication more effectively.

Get Connected will enable improved access for staff, people who use services and carers, so they can use the internet to communicate, learn and train. Computer literacy, and the internet in particular, are transforming the way we communicate, learn and work. It follows on from the successful launches of SCIE’s Social Care TV and the Dementia Gateway.

Leading charities in the field Lasa and Charity Technology Trust are providing support to ‘Get Connected.’ Lasa will bring technical advice and resources to the project, whilst CTT will be managing the grant-making aspects of the project.

Microsoft have written to Romsey and Southampton MP Sandra Gidley, pictured, to boost their software donation programme which is run together with the Charity Technology Trust.

Cost of email marketing to fall

Charity Technology Trust (CTT) a UK registered charity and a leading provider of fundraising and communications solutions to UK charities has today announced that it is reducing the prices it charges its email marketing clients. On average, charities will see prices fall by between 10% and 30%, but for some charities, volume reductions could be as great as 60%. The good news comes at a time when, in the current economic climate, more and more charities are embracing digital communications as a low cost and highly effective means of fundraising.

Charity Technology Trust recognised by British Computer Society
5th December 2008

Last night, at a gala dinner at the Marriott Grosvenor House Hotel, London, Charity Technology Trust was honoured as a Medallist in the British Computer Society (BCS) Awards.

Up against strong competition, CTT was honoured in the Social Contribution project category alongside joint medallists the Samaritans.

Solution to ailing IT was right up charity's street - September 2008

FOR voluntary sector organisations, upgrading an ageing IT network can represent a major financial hurdle.

But for one Manchester city centre charity, with the help of the Charity Technology Exchange (CTX) and Microsoft, it was surprisingly easy.

The 42nd Street charity has been working since 1980 with young people across Greater Manchester who suffer from different mental health issues, providing a range of support services.

Charity Technology eXchange launches in Northern Ireland - April 2008

Belfast: April 24th, 2008 - Ms Margaret Richie, Minister for Social Development today officially launched a technology donation programme for non-profit organisations in Northern Ireland. The programme, run by Charity Technology Trust, is supported by Microsoft, Cisco and Symantec and will provide every qualifying non profit with access to technology donations from the supporting companies. It is estimated that up to 4,000 organisations can benefit from this new initiative and can receive technology with a cumulative value of up to £20m per annum. Read the full press release.

VAT VICTORY FOR CHARITY SECTOR - March 08

Vir2 Ltd, the UK's leading provider of SMS text based marketing and fundraising solutions for charities, today welcomed the written answer from the Treasury which states that VAT should not be charged on charity donations made by text.

Charity Technology Trust (www.ctt.org), a UK registered charity dedicated to promoting effective use of technology by charities, has worked with Vir2 to become the leading provider of text donation facilities in the UK with over 120 charities using the service.

The clarification came from Jane Kennedy MP, Financial Secretary to the Treasury, who, in a written answer to a question raised by Vir2 Ltd constituency MP Mark Oaten, stated: Donations to charity, including those made by text message, are outside the scope of VAT—which means that no VAT is payable on them. Read the full press release.

22 April 2007: bss selects CTT payments systems
bss, a UK registered charity since 1975 and the leading provider of multi-media contact centre and fulfilment services to the charity sector, has selected CTT to provide its payment processing systems. March 2007: New CTX donor partners

February 2007: CTT launches payment terminal for charity shops
Many charities are often faced with high set up costs and rental costs for card payment terminals and risk lost revenue from not being able to offer this facility to customers. CTT has been working for over a year to find a cost effective solution for the charity sector and can now offer a free CHIP and PIN enabled terminal for each charity retail outlet to process all credit and debit card transactions using an existing phone line.  The service includes free installation, training and support and integration with CTT’s CP Terminal reporting system. Read more about our new payment terminal.
